Players: 3+

Ages: 4+

Duration: Until the next ZuGrama

The year is 2025. ZuGrama has just finished and you’re facing withdrawal. You’ve expressed your gratitude on Telegram and other social media, but it just doesn’t feel enough. If only there were a way to make your gratitude real, to turn it into something tangible and lasting…

Introducing MetaGrama: a positive-sum game in which the goal is to earn RESPECT by recognising all of the value that went into the ZuGrama experience. These individual interactions will combine to provide a rich dataset of the ZuGrama experience, which may be used to train AI, automate future events, and coordinate with other communities.

How to earn respect The goal of the game is to earn as much RESPECT as possible. RESPECT is earned by nominating contributions, valuing contributions, and improving the valuation process. This is an ongoing game that will end when we have a complete picture of the ZuGrama experience, or we run out of time trying (before the next ZuGrama). In other words, ZuGrama may be over but the ZuGrama metagame has only just begun!

Game setup

How to play

Everyone can start earning points immediately by jumping into one of our spreadsheets and nominating or valuing contributions. As you play the game, you can rise through several levels, unlocking more ways to earn points:

  1. ZuGrameen (everyone who attended ZuGrama). Can nominate contributions and complete pairwise valuations via metavaluation prototypes or other approved channels. May NOT complete pairwise valuations for their own contributions or any others that they nominated.
  2. MetaGrameen (anyone who has nominated 3+ contributions and 30+ pairwise valuations). May complete pairwise metavaluations. May NOT complete pairwise metavaluations for their own contributions or any others that they nominated. May fork and create a new prototype, but only after all valuations and metavaluations in the previous prototype have been completed.
  3. ZuPanchayat (3-5 ppl, must have attended hackathon OR completed 30+ metavaluations). Responsible for ensuring the flow and integrity of the game, meeting weekly to review activity, assign tasks (e.g., forking prototypes), and make governance decisions. The council may seek community input (e.g., via voting) but reserves the final say on all decisions.

Contributions completed toward these roles are also eligible for nomination and valuation under the same metavaluation process, aligning incentives throughout the community.

How to win

The winner is the player who earns the most RESPECT points before the next ZuGrama begins, or the ZuPanchayat declare that the dataset is sufficiently complete. Financial prizes (if available) will be distributed between players according to the proportion of points received.
